It happened to me!


 
 

During shopping in Bangkok in march 1999 for the wedding of our eldest daughter, My wife's handbag was ripped open at a crowded shopping area and the thief escaped. We never thought that an incident like this would occour. At this time she lost almost $1500/- in cash with some travellers cheques, passport, driving licence and credit cards. Apart from money we lost our patience and wasted much time over this matter.

1.We made a complaint to the tourist police regaring this matter.
2.Obtained a certified extract of the complaint.
3.On this report a temporary passport was issued by the embassy.
4.We proceeded to the immigration desk at the airpoart to get confirmation for departure.
5.Informed the card companies/American embassy regarding the loss of the credit cards    and Visa.
6.Change our travel plans, restrict shopping and change hotels etc.,
7.Apply for a new passport at home.
8.The episode to be related frequently ( to officials, associates, friends etc.,)

I decided to do something regarding this theft. Three months later, I visualized a solution when I was thousand kilometers away, shopping in Hong Kong.
